Please join me for their Grand re-opening on Thursday Nov 17th from 6-8:30. The changes to the restaurant are unbelievable! Come see it all for yourself!

Conrad Beach

Conrad Beach is one of those spots that locals love. It's often over-looked as it shares the same coast line as Lawrencetown Beach and Rainbow Haven but it offers amazing sunsets. I'm never disappointed when I go there. These are a few photos that I took last night.

Weathered Chair

Saturday evening when we were shooting Paddy and Holly's engagement photos, I noticed a chair on the beach with only three legs. It had really great texture and completely weathered. I went back last night to get a few photos and to take in the sunset. These were long exposures up to 10 seconds each.

Paddy and Holly

We spent yesterday evening with Paddy and Holly, shooting their engagement session in Fisherman's Cove and Rainbow Haven. The sky was unbelievable! It was one of those nights where I just couldn't stop taking photos. Paddy and Holly are getting married next summer in Fogo, NL and we are so excited to join them! I think we could be more excited about their wedding than they are!

Warning: They've booked the photo booth. Crazy photos of a guy named Curtis will follow their wedding.

These are some of my favorites from the shoot.

Lindsay and Marty

This past monday my wife and I joined Lindsay and Marty at White Point Beach for their elopement. After meeting with them for the first time it was clear we had kick-started a friendship that will go beyond this wedding. It was a perfect match for us. We hit it off right away. From names to military and so much more. It proved for great conversation and hilarious moments during the shoot.

I have to say, Lindsay rocked that dress! They looked amazing and that vintage theme really worked with Marty's uniform.

I know both Marty and Lindsay have family who are very anxious to see photos from the day. Here are a few...just for them.

Annapolis Royal

The 84th Regiment put on quite a show for spectators this Natal Day weekend in Annapolis Royal. There was so much happening here I couldn't keep up with it. From the first annual Annapolis Beer Run to the famous sunset ceremony put on by the cadets of HMCS Acadia. These are only a few shots from my weekend here but there are so many more.

A big thanks to Halliday U-Pick for letting us use their property for a quick photo shoot. I can't believe how big their blueberries are! They officially open their u-pick on wednesday.

Fog Get About It

As is expected in Nova Scotia, the weather changes frequently and you really never know what you're going to get. I took these two photos today, the first one at 11:50am, the second at 6:59pm. Personally I like the first one better. As a photographer here in NS, I have to adapt to the changing weather. It was pouring rain until 11:00am this morning, then thick fog, now sunny. I'm hoping for some clear skies tonight so I can get a shot of star trails. I found the perfect subject for it! Stay tuned.

Brier Island

After leaving Annapolis Royal I headed out for Brier Island to see if I could take in any whale watching. Driving west along Hwy 101 to Digby and then following Hwy 217 you drive along the Digby Neck to take a series of two ferries to the island. The first is to Long Island and the second to the western most point in Nova Scotia, Brier Island.

But along the way you'll drive by some amazing places like Sandy Cove. It was low tide when I drove by and stopped to take a few photos. I don't think I could ever get used to seeing a boat sitting on its side!

Once you get to Long Island you'll see Boars Head Lighthouse. You have to hike a little way to get to it but you can't miss it when you are coming across on the ferry.

Then of course you have whale watching in Brier Island. I found myself aboard Island Link only 30 mins after getting off the ferry. It is operated by the Brier Island Lodge. I had a great time and a special thanks to Reed, the captain of Island Link for making it an awesome trip.

Kirsten & Will

I'm working late and have to get up in four hours but I really wanted to get a few of these photos up.

This past weekend my wife and I went to Annapolis Royal for Kirsten and Wills wedding. It was a beautiful day and the ceremony was held in Kirsten's parents backyard in Grenville Ferry. These two were super-laid-back and very easy going! Congrats to you both and thanks for letting us play a roll in your special day.

I hope you enjoy these few photos.

Time Lapse Video

video

A few weeks ago, while I was in Advocate, I spent an entire day photographing the changing tide. One photo every minute for almost eleven hours! This is a sample video of that day. There are over 230 images placed together with an elapsed time of 3 and a half hours.

This is my first attempt at making one of these videos so I'm looking for some feedback from anyone and everyone. Please let me know what you think!

Shubenacadie

I've just spent the last few days in Maitland photographing the tidal bore on the Shubenacadie River. It was so amazing to see all the activity from tidal bore rafting to mud sliding and kayaking. I went in to visit Brian at The River Runners to let him know I was in the area. If you're looking to go rafting I would highly recommend paying him a visit. And if you're not looking at going rafting, you should be. Everyone came back beaming with excitement!

The photo below is the viewing platform which gives you a great view of the tidal bore! It can be found at the information centre which is very easy to find.

A few photos of the tidal bore rafting from the River Runners!

Mud Sliding at its best. This was a great family having a great time.

These guys were all for having photos taken. We discovered that they were camping across from us a few weeks ago in Five Islands when we were there to capture the Not Since Moses Race.

I'm now in Blomidon waiting for the rain to stop. Hope to have more photos for you soon!
